Shalin you can go for NID, or there are even other centres of learning coming up that are run by government support and offer reduced fee. however the competition could be tough and you must be very creative to get through NID. A good mentor and wise selection of courses with a good school, followed by diligent learning, would get you a head start in your career. Animation is an art form and a very demanding career. It has ample opportunities for the creatively talented people. Opportunities lie in animation design, game design, graphics, storyboarding, 3d modelling, texturing and lighting, Dynamics and VFX and of course animation (2D and 3D). However, choosing between these must be done after seeing your performance in each of these. Typically you should have good sketching skills to be able to make a sound career in this (if you work hard you can improve your drawing skills tremendously). Nothing but your innermost talent and passion should lead you to the course and the institute you choose. Go speak to people over there and see if you like their philosophy and they change your perspective.Try their website for more details. Also remember that Animation requires good mentoring. Hello Shalin NID offers two and half year PG in Animation Film Making. Even IDC, IIT Mumbai offers the similar programs as PG. Both are Government owned. Animation calls for a wide bouquet of skills from traditional art skills to articulation skills, storytelling to aesthetic appreciation, and creativity to technical prowess. Learning Software alone won't help you. First acquire artistic skills on paper, then learn application software’s for expressing skills in the Digital Medium. Digital Media and Animation related programs are offered by lot of Government Colleges and Autonomous Institutes & Universities. While choosing any institute ensure that you are taught by Experienced & proficient Mentors. Also ensure adequate infrastructure, industry interface & validate placement track record of alumni's.
