<p>There are more than 3,500 students at the University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD), from across 108 nations. Founded in 1993, the university is located within the Dubai Knowledge Park. It is the first Australian university to be accredited internationally in the United Arab Emirates.</p><p>For international students, UOWD presents a conducive environment and international students have many services at their disposal to make adjusting to life in the United Arab Emirates easier. An International Student Mentor Programme and a meet-and-greet "Marhaba" service at the Dubai airport are two of the well-known support services provided by the International Student Programme. For students who are not UAE residents, UOWD also provides a basic visa sponsorship service that enables them to study and live in the country for a 12-month renewable period.</p>
