The reason for this mindset is Science students can go for Arts / BA course if they are interested in it. Same time they can also pursue higher studies in Science and Technology and Medical and Allied Health too. But if one student has completed HSc in Humanities, he can go for courses in Arts only

I think the basic reason for this notion is because there is lot of unawareness of what are the options one can take after arts and humanities and people in India know only about engineer,doctor,IAS etc as a career and they want to be on the safer side

I agree with you Paras because arts and humanities are kind of creative field and hence there is lot of uncertainty revolving around it which might not ensure you a definite job and people in India always wants to be on the safer side

HI All There is a need of lot career counselling across various sections of the society to break this mindset because even the traditional streams like engineering,B.com etc. are over crowded and its hard to find employment in these areas.

Arts & Humanities are placed at the bottom of the education pyramid due to variety of factors like possible professional implications, employment opportunities, commercial applications and for other unknown reasons.
