As far as I know, earlier TIET used to take admission through board percent, but as years passed, they now only take admission on the basis of entrance examination, with 78% in boards, and then doing well in entrance exam, you may have a solid chance of getting TIET.

Honestly, with 78% in boards, getting into Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology through the board merit route is quite difficult.

Cutoffs (especially for popular branches) usually go much higher.
