Aviation sector."A BOON OR A BANE" for Generation Next.
What kind of impact would be faced in the aviation sector with the hike in aviation fuel prices and a meltdown in financial sector? Already with the fall of Kingfisher Airlines, one of the finest domestic players, traffic has come to a halt...The pilots are getting salaries either late or after dedu... View More

After going through all the 16 viewes, I sadly note that the answers have veered from the actual question to failures of King fisher and Comtel. Management failures of individual few airlines does not any ways indicate Boon or Bane. The rise of aviation sector in India is very much required to sustain high growth of economy, aid to tourism, options to travellers, generation of new employments and a clean & swift mode of transport. Rise in aviation sector brings in co-lateral benefits to infrastructure, hotels and cab operators. Had it not been so, World class road from New Airport at Devenhalli to Bangalore would not come up. Garment manufacturer & designers, caterars, business outlets at airports, cleaners, drivers, loaders; all are benefited and employed in good environment in clean uniforms. Even emmission rates of modern jet liners are much below compared to trains in which otherwise passengers would have travelled in the absence of aviation. Overall. I can't think of any point which can be considered as Bane.

No, it will not create a negative image in the minds of numerous students aspiring to make their career in aviation industry. If one is able to see the rush scene at Mumbai airport, the one I saw few days earlier, it would give rise to just one thought. And the thought is that the scope in aviation industry is increasing leaps & bounds but the promotors of most of the private airlines are purposely not viewing it for a long term. The main reason for the sufferings of some of the private airlines is actually huge staffing and that they are unwilling to develop faith in the minds of the Customers by varing the charges every minute. Customers feel cheated and at the same time they also want to travel by air. So they switch their loyalty. Competition is thick and their is no unanimous agreement between different airlines on some minimum fare. I think it is neccesary to increase air faires by some margin and then stick to it for atleast 4 months. Airlines need to compete on the services at the airport and inside the aircarft and not on the fares. In the beggining it was a good idea to have low cost flights. This had lured the customers and the lions tasted the blood. Now that many of the customers have cultivated the habit of travelling only by Air then there is no point in keeping the fares low to give rise to losses. Any why there is so much staffing when the systems are so automatic. The private airline companies need to think out of box rather then expecting help from the Govt. As far a Govt Airlines is concerned the less said the better.Aspiring students need not to worry. Thus business will rise to the heights at which the planes fly.

MSK70515 .thank u for your valuable opinion. And I too second that despite the ups and down in any sector, an individual aspiration to make a career in the same industry would least be affected if under strong inclination.

In my opinion the recent problem faced by Kingfisher airlines is not going to last for too long, at the same time we cannot deny the fact that aviation sector is one of the most booming sectors in terms of employment opportunities.

Nice discussion aru.chopra ji, Yes, As we know most of the aviation industry facing financial meltdown, Hike in fuel price may be the primary issue followed by many other environmental issues, and it will be larger in coming years and feel it will create a negative impact not only in students but on investors as well as, we need to wait and watch. Comtel Air passengers say they had to come up with 20 thousand pounds or about $31,500 to purchase fuel while on a stop-over in Vienna en route to the UK from India. Comtel, which offered flights from Punjab to Birmingham via Vienna, reportedly said they have operated a successful airline so far but signs show otherwise. Another flight was stranded in India indefinitely, indicating serious money issues. I personally feel such factors will determine aviation industry in future.

aru.chopra nice discussion started, Aviation sector will surely be a boon for next generation as we all know with the increase in public income now more and more people prefer to travel by Air, there by creating a large number air travellers, so as more and more number of people prefer to travel by air the aviation sector need more people to manage it.
