The necessity of Mathematics is depends upon the specialisation you opted in B. Des course. The Transport Design, Industrial Design and Product Design needs some Mathematical background. While the other courses like Fashion, Communication, Leather, Accessory, Graphic& Animation, Knitwear and Textile
