B.E. Electrical wishes to seek guidance for Merchant Navy.

hi, i'm about to finish my b.tech in electrical engg,and want to pursue a career in merchant navy. 1)am i eligible for the ''trainee marine engg'' course of one year duration 2)is ETO(electro trainee officer) course also an option,as i came to know that ETO's are not in much demand on the ship???
