All of us have seen a young mother with an infant which is just one month old, or maybe less. When does the infant go to sleep ? Anytime. And when does it wake up? Again, anytime. So when does the ever vigilant young mother sleep? She adjusts to the cycle of wakefulness and sleep with the infant. As and when the child sleeps, she also takes a quick nap. As a result, she is always ready to take up her duties towards the infant with renewed energies. Same type of strategy is needed for balancing our personal and professional lives. As and when a professional task is there, we should be ready to handle it effectively. As and when it is so

Good discussion @Gautam Joshi. I feel that you can only give 100% at work if you give sometime to maintain ur own mental sanity. How u do that is entirely upto u. e.g i have a friend who is in a very good position but does some excellent glass paintings. it intially started as a way to destress when office drove her mad, to relieve some childhood memories when she took a long weekend off. Slowly with lots of feedback from friends, she started selling it (along with doing her FT work). I know couples who have highly stressfull jobs in the private sector but who are active members of a troupe. Similarly i know people who actively practis

Good discussion initiated by Gautam Joshi .
Well, I strictly believe in 'All work and no play will make Jack a dull boy' . So, for me, balance in personal and professional is highly important. Both should not be mixed. I believe that every individual (specially officials witnessing strenuous work environment) must find some time out and get involved in the social life as well because this balance will not hamper their growth, both professionally and personally.
So, the funda is to 'Work Hard. Party Harder.' :) What say ?

Call center, BPO, Drivers(Bus, Truck, Rail, Aeroplane), Mine worker, all the people who work in real time systems. i think they lead very challanging lives in India specially
If we go to any europian country or america these types of people are well taken care by their govt since they have good polices to secure such people.
I give a simple equation here:
Corrupt Govt >> Price rise >> currency devaluation >> economic gaps >> competetion >> extra efforts >> Un managed or Stressfull life
Thus we are unable to enjoy our lives.

I think social life or personal life is not about family, friends and relatives but it is to do with one's mental health. Mental peace is equally important.
Now a days situation at workplace has changed drastically when you compare the time 15 yrs ago.
now a days every single business wants to go global and which is why prepares itself for the competetion and thus burdon of high performance comes into play for every employee in the org.
We spend more than required hrs in office and left with very little time for the self and family.
This seems like some kind of Race that we are in and its never ending.
A number of people are facinated by IT

Well in order to make both Personal and professional life successful, one needs to prioritize between the two. If the two are mixed together then it can lead to unhealthy personal and professional life.

Gautam Joshi absolutely in the present day scenario taking out time for own leisure activities is vary challenging, but again giving time to self is also very important, because if a individual is stressed then he/ she may not be able to give their 100% at work.

It is always good to be faithful and sincere towards your work and also be more determined at work place so that one can work with utmost concentration for success.
Likewise the same parameters can get us lead happy and healthy personal life. When we leave from work.we should leave it completely and look forward for a peaceful environment at home and same goes when we start from home for office.
It is very important to strive a balance between the two lives and being social can help us to be more energetic at work as it helps curb the monotonous at work place.
