Being an NRI, is my son eligible to apply under DASA Quota? Is SAT must for him to apply under DASA Quota?

I am based out of Muscat and my son was here with us from 8th to 10th standard. He is pursuing his 11th and 12th from Mumbai.

    Hi Praveen,
DASA applicants have to be of Foreign Nationality/Non-Resident Indians/Persons of Indian origin or Indians who are studying abroad. Indian nationals studying abroad will be eligible for admission if they have completed their 10+2th standard from outside India. Since your son is studying in Mumbai now, the situation seems difficult. You may contact DASA office directly and enquire.

No, SAT/ACT scores are totally optional to be submitted and students will be considered for merit-based scholarships irrespective of these scores. However, students must prepare a strong portfolio that will be submitted during application process to be able to increase their chances of getting the scholarships.

No, BMU SAT is not compulsory to get admission into the BTech course at BML Munjal University. Candidates can take the BMU SAT exam in case they have not secured valid scores in the other entrance exams, such as JEE Mains, CUET UG, etc. Candidates who do not appear or secure valid scores in these standardised entrance exams can get admission to BTech with BMU SAT. Hence, BMU SAT is one of the accepted entrance exam for admission to BTech course. However, it is not compulsory.

Applicants get their SAT exam scores within 13 days from the date of Digital SAT examination. On the other hand, applicants used to wait for several weeks to get their SAT exam scores on the paper version. Applicants ae at an advantage when taking the SAT Digital because scores are released within the stipulated timeline and are usually not delayed.

The Digital SAT is shorter than the paper SAT or the old version because of the following reasons:

  • The Digital SAT is shorter because it is digitalised, thus, lesser paper work and faster answering online.
  • SAT Digital has smaller reading passages in comparison to the previous version.
  • There is one Math section, instead of two, and all questions can be solves using a calculator which makes the test shorter.
  • The Digital SAT has a shorter duration keeping in mind the applicant's fatigue and overwhelm.
  • Finally, the questions have reduced on the latest SAT and then the duration has also reduced overall.

On the Digital SAT, operational questions are the ones that are scored. Each correct operational question gets a mark. On the other hand, pretest questions are experimental questions. These questions are NOT scored on Digital SAT. Both sections of SAT have two modules each and each module tests both operational and pretest questions.
  • There are two pretest questions on each module (that is four modules - two per section RW & Math) that are tested and are UNSCORED.
  • While there are 25 operational questions each in both modules of SAT's RW section, and 20 operational questions each on both the modules of SAT's Math section which are SCORED
