Biotechnology is a very vast subject. Bioinformatics is a part of biotechnology. Biotechnology has more scope than bioinformatics. Through biotechnology, we can go for research, food quality assurance, teaching, science writer, management, quality control officer and some more. But bioinformatics do not provide this much career options in future.

Biotechnology has more scope as compared to bioinformatics because India has become one of the best destinations for biotechnology industry due to good network of research laboratories, rich biodiversity, well developed base industries, rich agriculture sector and trained manpower. The biotechnology professionals can get good jobs in the pharmaceutical companies, agricultural, chemical and allied industries. They can get the employment in the areas of production, planning and management of bio-processing industries.

Future of both streams is bright in India as they are 21st century science.
Bioinformatics deals in quantitative analysis of data in molecular biology
whereas biotechnology is basically genetic engineering, it deals in development of various bio products.
So, if you want to bang your head against computer programs in future , then go for bioinformatics, and if you love to develop new bio products and techniques (basically deep interest in biology research) , follow your heart in biotechnology.

    HI ALL,
Today the growth and scope in biotechnology is anytime more than that of bioinformatics. Many research works today consider bioinformatics as one of the part or tool in the development of biotechnology science.

Biotechnology deals with technology as well as biological sciences, including production of recombinant proteins, transgenic plants and animals, vaccine and other pharmaceuticals.
Bio-informatics deals with IT and biological sciences. DNA sequencing, protein modelling by using software tools and drug designing are covered under the bio-informatics

    Hi,
Bio informatics focus on the computational side of biology while biotechnology focus on technology development not limited to computational part
