Can a person appear for IAS exam if he completed his BA (Hons) in english? Is english an optional subject for IAS exam?

    English is one of the optional subjects and all graduates are eligible for IAS.

    For IAS exam, graduation is a must. Subject doesn't matter.

    All the graduates are eligible for civil service exam. Yes, English literature is available as an optional subject for civil service mains exam. You can also check the list of optional subjects along with previous years question papers on UPSC's website.

    Yes, subject doesn't matter, only graduation is important. If a person completed his graduation, then he can appear for exam.
