Yes you can, but a valid license from DGCA is required. DVD.

You have raised a very pertinent query. Normally no. One needs to have liscense from DGCA to work as maint person on commercial aircraft in India. So merely becoming Aeronautical engineer will not enable you but you surely will be well qualified to appear for and pass exam conducted by
