Dear aspirant, Glad to meet you. YES, definitely any average student can go into IIT or top NIT's if he/she has the right determination and consistent practice towards his studies and examinations. If you have the dream to get into IIT, like several others,. Then you have to grind yourself, practice hard and have to be consistent at your studies. You have to make a proper time table schedule and need to fix ATIT. If you are weak in calculations and solving numericals and other questions, then you have to work at your weak points and have to sharpen your strong points. Not any IIT have 100% placement scenario but if you work hard and stay focused opportunities would start pouring for you.

The difference between normal colleges and IIT's is just of the faculty and the way they teach. If you work hard enough and stay focused in the studies, it doesn't matter whom you are competing with. Not all students from IITs get placed but there is more clarity and more knowledge because of the environment.
