Can I appear for CSIR-UGC NET exam after completing B.Sc in nursing?

Hello, As per the required eligibility criteria, a candidate who wants to appear in the CSIR NET Exam should have a completed master's degree or a four year's Bachelors degree. As right now you have pursued B.Sc. In Nursing, so to become eligible for the CSIR NET Exam, you must have to enroll for the master's degree related to following Science streams - Physical Science Chemical Science Mathematical Science Earth Science Life Science The aspirants who qualify this exam will be eligible to get the CSIR NET Certificate that can help you to apply for lectureship and Junior Research Fellowship in various colleges and institutes. Hello Anjali, According to the CSIR norms, aspirants who have qualified post-graduation or 4 years graduation degree can apply for the CSIR UGC NET exam. But graduate students can only apply for the Junior Research Fellowship. Candidates who enrolled in Masters degree are also eligible to take the exam. So, a B.Sc. In nursing can appear for the CSIR NET Exam but only for JRF. But make sure you fulfill all the basic requirements of National Eligibility Test. Candidates who are willing to appear in Upcoming CSIR NET exam should be well aware with the eligibilities and the latest notifications of the exam. As per the CSIR NET Eligibility Criteria, candidates should have passed post-graduation/4 years graduation with 55% (For General/OBC) or 50% (For ST/SC/PWD) marks from a government recognised institute. To appear for Junior Research Fellowship, you have to fulfill age criteria also I. e. your age must not be exceeded than 28 years (For General). Reserved categories candidates get the relaxation of 5 years.

According to my views and experience, you have to first qualify the any post-graduation degree. After that, you can appear for UGC NET, because for UGC NET, the minimum criteria is post-graduation, after that you can appear in this exam.

Eligibilty for CSIR JRFs is that awarded to candidates holding BS-4 years program/ BE/ B.Tech/ B.Pharma/ MBBS/ Integrated BS-MS/M.Sc. or Equivalent degree/ B.Sc (Hons) or equivalent degree holders or students enrolled in integrated MS-PhD program with at least 55% marks for General & OBC (50% for SC/ST candidates, Physically and Visually handicapped candidates) after qualifying the National Eligibility Test ( NET) conducted by CSIR twice a year June and December. From published eligibility criteria, it looks that BSc Nursing grads are not eligible for CSIR JRF awarded based on NET examination. Based on your educational qualifications, it will be difficult for you to clear Life Sciences subjects in NET examination. I will suggest you to write your query directly to CSIR for better clarity.
