Can I appear for JEE Mains 2018 if I am pursuing B.Tech from a private college? I have scored 40 marks in JEE Mains 2017.

You can appear for JEE 2018 and seek admission in IIT and NIT. If you clear JEE examinations you will get admission in first year as there is no provision of lateral entry into the 2nd-year at IITs and NITs.

If you are doing Engineering from a reasonably good college then you may continue with it else try you luck again at JEE.
