JEE Mains exam doesn't give any weightage to your class 12th marks. However, if you want to take admission in NITs or IITs (means if you want to appear in JEE Advanced exam), you must have above 75% in class 12th. So if you are asking for just Mains then yes you can go for it! For further queries, feel free to ask anytime!
    Good luck!

If you know JEE (Mains) exam is conducted before the declaration of boards result. So you can opt for JEE(Mains) irrespective of your board result. However, to be eligible to get into an NIT or IIT you must get 75% in boards.
