You can sit for the exam but you cannot be a part of the NIT's counselling as you do not fulfill the eligibility of having more than 75% in your 12th class.

Yes why not? Everybody can apply for JEE Mains exam no matter what his or her rank is. Your answer is in your question brother to get good rank, hard work is must but doing smartly is the thing. Give more time on topics which are having more value in giving good marks i.e which are productive.
