    Yes you can EEE Mains exam if you fail in your class 12th standard as the criteria of JEE Mains state that candidate must have to appear the class 12th board or equivalent exam. However to be able to enroll into an undergraduate programme in engineering, one is required to clear their Class 12 examinations before joining a particular college. What needs to be clearly pointed out is the fact that even though you can write the JEE Mains, it is the performance in class 12 exams that determines your eligibility to write subsequent admission processes.     No, failing your Class 12 exams will prevent you from taking the JEE Mains. Candidates must have passed their Class 12th or equivalent exam with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as required subjects in order to meet the fundamental eligibility requirements for JEE Mains. Since passing Class 12 is a requirement for admission, you will not be able to enroll in any engineering schools even if you attempt the JEE Mains without passing.

    If you don't pass you should concentrate on passing your Class 12 exams the next year or on a second try. Since JEE Mains permits for several attempts you can take it again after passing.
