Yes, you can become an SBI PO after getting selected as a clerk, but there's no direct promotion. Here are the two main ways an SBI clerk can move to the PO cadre:

    • Internal Exams: SBI conducts internal exams periodically for clerks who want to become officers. These exams typically consist of a written test and interview. You'll need to meet eligibility criteria like minimum service tenure to appear for these exams.
    • Direct PO Exam: You can always appear for the regular SBI PO recruitment exam that's open to all candidates. This might be preferable if the internal exam route seems too competitive or has a long wait time.

No, you cannot become a probationary officer (PO) after being selected as an SBI Clerk. The SBI POs are directly recruited through the SBI PO exam. However, you can become an officer after getting selected as a clerk or junior associate at SBI. There are two ways:
    1. Trainee Officer (TO) in SBI. You can become a TO after completing three years of mandatory service as a clerk. You need to pass the JAIIB and CAIIB certification exams to be considered. There will be an internal exam followed by an interview and a group discussion round. After clearing these exams, you can become a TO, which has similar career growth to that of a PO.
