Can I become an IAS officer after pursuing B.A. in English?

I have passed class 12 with 90 percent marks and I have scored 86 out of 100 in English. I am from the commerce background. Should I do B.A. in English in order to become an IAS officer?

For appearing for IAS, a degree is enough.

Hi Sanandita, Through your degree or post-graduation in English honours, the advantage that you can acquire is selecting English literature as your second paper in optional and particularly you're not doing IAS I mean, IAS is not a course or anything like that. Its a service allotted under the UPSC

Yes, surely you can. Work hard and best of luck. For passing Civil Services Exam it is necessary to have good knowledge of English. So BA English is good option. Also you need to increase your general knowledge in all aspects.
