Yes, you can do B.Tech after completing a Polytechnic Diploma. There are two ways to get admission into a B.Tech programme after Polytechnic:
Lateral Entry: Most engineering colleges in India offer lateral entry admission to Diploma holders in engineering programs. Under the lateral entry scheme, candidates can get direct admission into the second year of the B.Tech programme. The admission criteria may vary from college to college, and some may require you to clear an entrance exam for lateral entry admission. Polytechnic is different than the 10+2 degree or intermediate degree. The criteria for admission in B.Tech 1st year in any colleges is 10+2 or intermediate. The criteria for Direct admission in second year is 3 years Diploma in engineering from a recognized college or university.
However, a student can apply for an equivalence certificate "Polytechnic degree-equivalent to 10+2" to the department of polytechnic education of the district or the state where he have pursued the polytechnic degree.
