In India, for government MD programs (Doctor of Medicine), passing an entrance exam is the standard requirement. There is no national exam for MD admissions, but most universities rely on entrance exams like NEET-PG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduate Courses). There might be a few exceptions where some private medical colleges  consider alternative selection methods for a small number of their MD seats (management quota) but this is not common.  These alternative methods could involve previous academic performance, interviews, or written tests.
