Yes, candidates who have completed a master's degree in a relevant discipline with at least 60% aggregate (55% aggregate for SC/ ST/ PwD category) can apply for a PhD course. The institute offers PhD in multiple specialisations, including Biosciences, Aerospace Engineering, Chemistry, Design, Earth Sciences, etc. To enrol for a PhD, the candidate must qualify for either GATE/ CSIR NET/ CEED/ UGC NET/ written test followed by an interview for admission to the PhD course. In order to be admitted to the PhD program, a candidate must pass either GATE, CSIR, CEED, or UGC written exams, as well as an interview. In addition, IIT Bombay is one of the few universities in India that can grant a PMRF fellowship to deserving PhD applicants at the time of admission. In addition to an annual contingency grant of INR 2 Lakh, PMRF fellows get a monthly stipend of INR 70,000.
