Can I get a seat in NITs? I am a general category student with less than 75% in Class 12.

<p>For a general category student, it can be quite difficult to get admission in NITs as a candidate with less than 75% in Class 12 by meeting the criteria within competition. For admission through JEE Main, candidates need to fulfill certain academic requirements:</p><p>1. JEE Main Eligibility: The candidate should also have seventy five percent marks in Class twelfth or its equivalent examination; or holds a position in the top twenty percentile of the respective board. Even if the minimum percentage of the candidates in any of the classes is below 75%, they may also attempt for JEE Main examination but they face hardships in order to get into the top NITs.</p><p><br>2. JEE Main Rank: Your rank in the JEE Main is the key and in case you have not done it then prepare yourself for it. A good rank can sometimes reduce the percentage disadvantage of having fewer marks in Class 12, mind you the cutoffs for different NITs differ.</p><p><br>3.
