Can I get admission in any engineering college for pursuing B.Tech after completing my polytechnic?

Only few Engineering colleges have lateral entry admission in 2nd year for Engineering Diploma holders.

Shall I drop a year or choose polytechnic after 12th for more opportunities and admission in a government college for B.Tech?

Yes many universities take admission directly in 2nd year for diploma holders.
