Can I get admission in top engineering colleges? Which engineering entrance exam should I take?
I have scored 79.60% in SSC and 60.80% marks in HSC.

For IIT's and NIT's you have to write JEE Mains and Advanced. JEE Mains rank can fetch you a seat in NIT whereas rank in Advanced can give you chance to get enrolled in IITs. Also, take exams such as BITSAT, VITEEE and other state exams for other top colleges.

You must appear in IIT-JEE Mains. Good score in this will get you in NITs and other top engineering colleges. You can appear for other entrance exams like VITEEE, BITSAT and other state engineering entrance exams.
