If you scored 540 marks in NEET as a general category candidate and want admission to a semi-government medical college in Maharashtra, it is challenging but not impossible. Semi-government medical colleges often have cutoffs that are slightly lower than those of fully government-funded  institutions. In 2024  the cutoff for general category candidates in private medical colleges in Maharashtra was around 529. In semi-government colleges the cutoff for general category candidates are above 540 marks.

It is important to note that cutoffs fluctuate every year. thus it is important to check the cutoff every year.

With 540 marks in NEET 2024, there is stand a chance for a semi government medical college in Maharashtra under general category, but it will be challenging. The most important factor is theoveral cutoffs that change every year. While semi government colleges usually have lower cutoffs than private ones, 540 is still borderline. Remember to check the official NEET counselling and cutoff posts for relevant information.

With a NEET score of 540, as a general category candidate, you can expect that admission to Maharashtra's semi-government medical colleges might be tough. The government medical college cutoff usually comes around 600-642, and private colleges have cutoffs around 573 or more. Based on these patterns, it can be hard to get a seat in semi-government colleges with your score as is. But it is recommended to be a part of the counseling process since cutoffs may differ depending on seat availability and overall performance of the candidates.
