Yes, if you belong to the General category under the AI quota, a 700 rank is good for securing admission at NIFT Chennai. The Round 1 cutoff list for 2025 has been published, showing closing ranks across various courses between 130 and 1420 for the General AI quota. Therefore, candidates in the General category have better chances of gaining admission to NIFT Chennai. However, please note that with your cutoff rank of 700, only courses with a cutoff of up to 700 will be eligible for admission. Refer to the table below to see all courses available within a cutoff rank of 700 for General category students.

Yes, you can take admission with a rank of 700. For the General category, the NIFT Chennai cutoff 2025 ranged between 130 and 1220. Candidates with higher ranks can prefer B.Des. in Textile Design which can be easily accessible at 700 rank. Some other interdisciplinary degree programs like B.Des. in Knitwear Design, or B.Des. in Leather Design, may admit students with higher ranks. As per NIFT Chennai 2025 cutoff, the Round 1 cutoff for these courses are 1220 and 1420, respectively.
