    No, it is not possible to get into Panjab University's PhD programme without writing any entrance test. However, the university does provide exemptions on the basis of the following:

    • Candidates who have already cleared any of the national tests, such as UGC-CSIR NET including JRF, SLET, GATE
    • Any prestigious test of national-level scholarship/ fellowship conducted at all India levels on behalf of the national institution (s), for example, GPAT, and JEST
    • Direct awardees of fellowship for pursuing PhD
    • Those working as permanent teachers at Panjab University and affiliated colleges are also exempted from the entrance test.
