Getting into NITs is quite a challenging and competitive task. The maximum rank is around 10,000 who are eligible to go for NIT irrespective of any caste reservation. Your marks and rank scored is not upto the mark for NITs but, there are many other private colleges with good ratings and well placement cell where you can apply.
If this is your first or second year then you can go for an year drop and try to score higher on the upcoming JEE MAINS examination.
There are many students who doesn't qualify for IITs or NITs but received a decent amount of package by selecting good private colleges and study hard during their college days.

With 148 points, 48 percentile, and a 62000 JEE Mains rank, it could be challenging to qualify into an NIT for SC candidates. It is still feasible to get admission to other reputable engineering institutes based on state counseling and category-specific seats.
