These both exams are from different platform. Mains is a way to advanced but its not necessary that if you study for advanced; Mains will be silly or easy. You have to work on both of them and should have enough knowledge. All the best.

No, it is not clear that if you prepare for JEE Advanced, you will need to qualify JEE Mains, so you will prepare for JEE Mains.
