Columbia University shall observe a test-optional policy for first-year applicants to Columbia College or College of Engineering who will be applying for fall 2023 and 2024. Generally, the Columbia University admission process is holistic. This means that all parts of the application are considered. For selection, each applicant's academic potential, intellectual strength, and ability to think independently are considered. Other factors like the applicant's special interests and abilities, motivation, maturity, curiosity, and whether the students will be able to make productive use of four years at Columbia are also considered.
