Can I give CPT examination?

Hi Srashti, yeah you surely can give CPT exam. Since you are from Science stream and you have chosen your career I think you should go for coaching classes now itself. Lot of centers are offering CPT classes in weekends. May be you can attend that. But concentarte on your class 12 exams too. CPT exams are held twice in a year- June and December. Now we have the following 4 papers Fundamentals of Accounting Mercantile Law General Economics Quantitative Aptitude- which comprise of Mathematics and Statistics But lot of changes are to be introduced in CPT in 2016. So the topics may change. Now its a purely objective exam. But in 2016 we may have both objective as well as descriptive ones. 2 papers will be in objective form and the remaining in descriptive. Go for accounting classes. Because Science students face problems in Accounts. Make your base perfect. Then it will be easy for you. Hope this helped you.

Hi Srashti, You can go with CA. Its just that you have work little hard in comparison with Commerce background students.Taking a drop for preparation depend upon you. You need to check that are you prepared for the exam. Chartered Accountants deal with the management of money and provide financial advice. They maintain records of financial transactions which every organization is required to keep by law. They also carry out company audits. The role of a Chartered Accountant has undergone rapid changes. The regulatory function has evolved to be a compendium of roles dealing with finance. Today, Chartered Accountants (CAs) occupy key posts in business organisations firms today particularly as advisors for tax management and in management accounting. Chartered Accountancy can be pursued after Class 10+2 or graduation. After Class X, a student has the option of registering with the Institute of Chartered Accountants for the Common Proficiency Test (CPT). A student who has passed Common Proficiency Test (CPT) and Senior Secondary Examination (10+2 examination may join the Professional Competence Course (PCC). Simultaneously, the student must register for articled training for a period of three-and-half years. Final exams of the Board can be taken in the last year of article-ship. The CPT is a test of four subjects i.e. Accounting, Mercantile Laws, General Economics and Quantitative Aptitude. This test is of 200 marks. The Board of Studies of the Institute of Chartered Accountants provides a comprehensive study package including large question bank. The Board of Studies also provides a CD for self-assessment with question paper sets of different subjects to test one’s level of preparation. There are many institutions which offer training to students for appearing for the CPT exams. Since you have not mentioned which part of the country you are from, we will not be able to help you with the names of the institutes. However a small google search will help you pull out a lot of information on these. You may also prepare yourself with old and model question papers or test model papers available on net or otherwise in good book stores.
