    Yes, you can. But, it will be hectic. Chemical engineering requires a lot of time and hard work. But, if you are passionate towards the subject, you would be able to do both.

Provides safety measures for those working with dangerous chemicals. Works on making products like food, and drinks. Helps in managing world's resources. Protect the environment by providing health and safety standards. So, may be yes, you can for research and teaching side by taking chemical engineering.
