Admission to BTech at VIT University normally requires a minimum of 60% in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) in the qualifying examination (12th grade or equivalent). However, aspirants from the SC/ST category must achieve 50% in PCM. In addition, admission is dependent on VITEEE (VIT Engineering Entrance Examination) or JEE Main scores. Meeting these requirements considerably increases your chances of admission to VIT.

  • Candidates who are interested in taking admission in BTech at Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) must take VITEEE exam which is a VIT own conducted entrance exam for inculcating students in the BTech programme and the eligibility criteria for registering for VITEEE is the student should have passed or appearing class 12 or SSC with a minimum of 60% aggregate (50% aggregate for reserved categories). Therefore, candidates must have a minimum of 60% aggregate to appear in VITEEE, a gateway for BTech at VIT, Chennai.

No, joining BTech at VIT without 60% in PCM (Physics, Chemistry, and Math) is not possible for the general category. Here's why:

    • Eligibility Criteria: VIT requires a minimum of 60% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in your Class 12 board exams to be eligible for admission to BTech programs.
    • VITEEE Entrance Exam: Even to appear for VIT Engineering Entrance Exam (VITEEE), the qualifying marks in PCM are mandatory.

There is a relaxation in the eligibility criteria for reserved categories:

    • SC/ST: Students belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC) or Scheduled Tribe (ST) categories need a minimum of 50% aggregate in PCM.
