Can I join IISc without JEE Main?

IISC Bangalore accepts JEE Main score for BTech admission 2024. The university has different admission criteria as per course requirement. IISc Bangalore offers a four-year BTech in Mathematics and Computing divided into eight semesters. The course is divided into two parts, i.e., Core Courses and Soft Core Courses.

- For the undergraduate programmes, such as BSc (By Research) and BTech in Mathematics and Computing, you need to appear for one of the following national-level exams: JEE Main, JEE Advanced, NEET-UG, or IAT. Therefore, you cannot join IISc without JEE Main, unless you appear for one of the other exams.
- For the postgraduate programmes, such as MTech, MDes, MMgt, etc., you need to appear for one of the following national-level exams: GATE, CEED, CAT, GMAT, or JAM. Therefore, you can join IISc without JEE Main, if you qualify for one of these exams.

The answer to this question depends on the course you are applying at IISC.
For Bachelor of Technology (BTech) programme, aspirants are offered admission based on JEE Main score. Hoewever, for BSc programme admission, JEE is not compulsory. Candidates with a valid score in IISER Aptitude Test can also get admission. For other courses such as MTech, MSc and PhD, JEE Main is not required for admission at Indian Institute of Science (IISC).

Yes, you can join the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) without JEE Main if you take the IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) or NEET-UG. IISc also accepts scores from JEE Advanced for admission to the BS programme. However, JEE Advanced is the only channel for admission to the BTech programme.
