Admission to the IMI Bhubaneswar is not possible without XAT, as it is mandatory. However, candidates can also apply through their CAT or GMAT scores. Apart from the entrance exam, candidates also have a graduation degree of 3 years duration or more with a minimum of 60% marks. Final year degree candidates can also apply and foreign nationals are only eligible through GMAT scores.

IMI Selection Index consists of CAT, XAT, CMAT, GMAT score, previous academic performance in Graduation, Class X & XII, Group discussion Extempore Speaking, Essay Writing, Personal interview among other parameters. The selection of candidates will be based on the factors mentioned in the IMI Selection Index. The eligibility of candidates will be determined on the basis of which criteria are specified by the IMI Admission Committee.
