Candidates only require GATE if they are applying for National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology Gorakhpur M.Tech programme. However, aspirants can apply for M.Tech even without GATE by providing institute or university level exam scores. The instiute conducts NIELIT Entrance Exam for O and A Level courses. For all other programmes, selection is merit-based.
