Production Engineering is sub specialisation of Mechanical engineering. With production engineering you have lot of opportunities in manufacturing sector. You are advised to seek admission in Production Engineering.

I suggest you to not get desperate for any particular college unless its IITs or BITs. Take a good branch of your interest in an average college as it is much more beneficial than any unknown branch in a so called reputed college.
