Can I prefer production engineering from a reputed college if I am unable to get mechanical engineering from the same college?

    Production Engineering is sub specialisation of Mechanical engineering. With production engineering you have lot of opportunities in manufacturing sector. You are advised to seek admission in Production Engineering.

    I suggest you to not get desperate for any particular college unless its IITs or BITs. Take a good branch of your interest in an average college as it is much more beneficial than any unknown branch in a so called reputed college. It's your hard work which gives you better results but its only possible when your hard work is in the right direction
