No, international students are required to buy the medical insurance for a year or less from their home country insurance provider. They can buy a travel policy or a private medical insurance, depending on the period of the stay. After the first year, it is mandatory for international students to buy health insurance from an Irish provider. The main medical insurance providers in Ireland are Irish Life Health, VHI Healthcare, Laya Healthcare, and GloHealth.
