    Definitely, yes. There are two cases, people with Diploma generally tend to join as a lateral entry that is they are allowed to skip year one of engineering and directly join from the second year for this eligibility is limited in this way you cannot join computer science but people with Diploma in cs and electronics can take electronics and computer science also mechanical Diploma can only join automobile, metallurgy, production petroleum engineering to name a few as you can understand you can only take mechanical related courses in lateral entry.
