We recommend you complete your 10+2 before opting for professional courses for better career opportunities. However, some courses offered on the basis of class X are 3 year Polytechnic - Diploma courses in more than 20 branches of Engineering like Computer Science, Information Science, Electronics and Communication Electrical, Electrical and Electronics, Mechanical, Chemical, Automobile, Civil, etc offered by Department of Technical Education .After Diploma, one can directly join 2nd year Engineering and do higher studies. However, some courses offered on the basis of class X are 3 year Polytechnic - Diploma courses in more than 20 branches of Engineering like Computer Science, Information Science, Electronics and Communication Electrical, Electrical and Electronics, Mechanical, Chemical, Automobile, Civil, etc offered by Department of Technical Education .After Diploma, one can directly join 2nd year Engineering and do higher studies. The Government of India has set up several Industrial Training Institutes - ITI's to impart technical education right after School in different trades like Basic Electronics, Electrical, Fitter, Welder, Lift technology, Fire and Safety, Air-conditioning, etc. Several diploma and Certificate courses are offered in paramedical sciences on the basis of class 10th in Medical Lab Technology, Medical X-Ray Technology, Medical Records Technology, Operation Theater Technology, Ophthalmic Technology, Health Inspector, Dialysis Technology, Dental Ceramic Technology and Auxiliary Nurse/ Midwifery. Other options are design courses like fashion design/ interior design, diploma in Home Science or a vocational course in Hotel Management from Food-craft Institutes.
