Can I pursue my M.Tech in Genetic Engineering after getting major degree in Mechanical Engineering and minor degree in Bio Engineering?

Can I pursue my M.Tech in Genetic Engineering after getting major degree in Mechanical Engineering and minor degree in Bio Engineering? I want to write GATE in Bio-Tech. Will it be possible?
