Can I study my first year in an NIT and then can go to an IIT? If there as such a student exchange programme? If yes, what is the process?

<p>The first-year transfer from NIT to IIT cannot happen directly because IITs do not have student transfer policies. Student relationship programs between NITs and IITs let qualified students from NITs study at IITs as per mutual agreement protocols but only for limited academic periods. Students should first clear JEE Advanced and obtain admission as a new entrant to join an IIT. Current policies of the IITs forbid direct student transfers from NITs while they do present research internships and special programs that allow NIT students to join but not through direct admission routes.</p><p>&nbsp;</p>
