The number of students appearing for the IIIT Hyderabad UGEE exam varies each year, typically ranging from 30,000 to 60,000 candidates. From these, approximately 600 to 800 candidates are shortlisted for interviews, with about 300 ultimately receiving admission offers based on their performance in both the written test and interviews.

Shortlisted candidates are required to attend an interview. The final selection is based on a combination of the UGEE exam score and the interview performance.

Initially, the UGEE result included only the exam scores. Candidates who qualify based on these scores are then invited for an interview. The final selection result (including interview performance) will be announced separately.
