Yes dear , you can take direct admission in M.Sc. (Hons.) Biotechnology programme which is a four-semester program, enables graduate students to pursue doctoral studies or professional employment, by imparting in-depth knowledge in specific areas of Biotechnology along with three semester dissertation. It has a duration of 2 years.
The eligibility criteria are -
Pass with 55% aggregate marks in bachelor's degree in Biotechnology
Or Applied Medical Science (Pharmaceutical Sciences, Physiotherapy, Ayurvedic Pharmaceutical Sciences)
Or Medical Science & Allied Medical Science (MBBS, BAMS, BDS, BHMS, Nursing, MLT)
Or Biosciences (Biotech, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Bioinformatics, Genetics)
or Life Sciences (Botany, Zoology) or Agriculture or Nanotechnology or Food Sciences or Veterinary Microbiology and Parasitology or Genetic Engineering & Biotechnology or Public Health & Allied Sciences or Plant Science or equivalent.
The programme fee per semester is 80000 INR, without any scholarship. If you want to reduce this fee, then you can apply for the LPUNEST scholarship exam and after qualifying you can get up to 70% scholarship in programme fees. Moreover, the salient features of course are as follows -
Contemporary curriculum
- Instil advanced knowledge in the major areas of biotechnology such as Genetic engineering, molecular biology, reproductive and therapeutic cloning and research methodology.
Knowledge Enhancement
- Courses based on plant and animal biotechnology, genetic engineering, molecular biology and immunology are incorporated in the curriculum to provide students with basic knowledge and modern technology used in the research areas. These courses are also required for qualifying national eligibility test.
Project
- Project has been incorporated to make the program research-oriented and to equip the students with practical exposure, writing and presentation skills.
Technical skills
- Laboratory courses in every semester are offered to develop practical skills in the students. Interpretation of scientific data is done by using qualitative, quantitative and analytical techniques.
