    Yes, you are permitted to use a calculator, but only the one from the test. The on-screen calculator is provided on the computer-based GRE while the Quantitative Reasoning section is being administered. The paper-based GRE comes with a basic handheld calculator, which is provided by the test center. Personal calculators are prohibited. The on-screen calculator offered is basic, using such functions as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and square roots.     Yes, you can use a calculator during the GRE exam, but ETS calculator only. In the computer-based GRE, an on-screen calculator is provided to the candidates for the section involving, Quantitative Reasoning. If the examinee is taking the paper-based GRE, then a hand held calculator is available at the testing center. Students need to note that they cannot even take their own calculator into the exams. The calculator is simple with addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and square root capabilities to assist complex calculations, in order not to compromise the general problem solving prowess of the student.
