If the examinee is taking the paper-based GRE, then a hand held calculator is available at the testing center. Students need to note that they cannot even take their own calculator into the exams. The calculator is simple with addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and square root capabilities to assist complex calculations, in order not to compromise the general problem solving prowess of the student. Since usually during the examination the candidate cannot start using a particular tool or use it incorrectly, adequate practice using instruments similar to that which will be used in the examination should be effective when taking the actual test.</p><p>&nbsp;</p>
