    Yes, Portland State University permits international students to work while studying in the university if they hold an F-1 or J-1 student visa. Candidates are permitted to work a maximum of 20 hours per week while classes are in session. Also, students must be mindful of the fact that they cannot work during times when they are scheduled to be in class.
