Every NIT has a certain quota for NRI children. It is termed as DASA and every year admissions are taken through this 'quota' as you may call it. The strength of DASA seats varies from NIT to NIT and Branch to Branch in every NIT. The base fees for a DASA candidate is fixed at $7000 + hostel fees. Admission is done based on the scores obtained in the SAT exam by the students. If you're living in the Gulf, you can come via the JEE route as well but DASA obviously has lesser competition and it is easier to get a seat via the DASA route.
