Can Kirkland & Ellis LLP and Latham & Watkins LLP be considered as some of the top recruiters of Faculty of Law, Calcutta University?

<p>It seems that Kirkland &amp; Ellis LLP and Latham &amp; Watkins LLP are not among the top recruiters of Faculty of Law, Calcutta University. In fact, there is no evidence that these two firms have recruited any students from the Faculty of Law in the past few years. These firms are among the largest and most prestigious law firms in the world, with offices in major financial centers and a strong presence in the US market. They typically recruit from top-tier law schools in the US, UK, and other jurisdictions, and have very selective hiring criteria.</p><p>Therefore, it is unlikely that they would consider the Faculty of Law, Calcutta University as a source of talent.</p>

<p>Regretfully, Kirkland &amp; Ellis LLP and Latham &amp; Watkins LLP do not usually hire students straight out of the University of Calcutta's Faculty of Law.</p><p>Several important factors</p><p>Indian legal schools teach civil law, but international law firms like Kirkland and Latham typically hire attorneys with training in common law. They favor hiring from National Law Universities or the best Indian law schools.</p><p>Being renowned international law firms, they typically don't recruit attorneys directly from universities, but rather from those who have some prior work experience or who have proven their expertise.</p><p>Their hiring procedure in India is extremely selective, prioritizing students from the best national law schools. Calcutta University's Faculty of Law doesn't seem to be a major target institution.</p><p>Nonetheless, the Faculty regularly places students in corporate openings, judgeship positions, and law firms, among other recruiters. However, it's unlikely that Kirkland &amp; Ellis and Latham &amp; Watkins would be regarded as top campus recruiters in particular. Later in their careers, students might apply to these companies for experienced hiring.</p><p>&nbsp;</p>
